Missing detail is reconstructed, not recovered from an original. Faces and historical details may be inaccurate; keep your source photo. Photo restoration currently requires the Creator plan or higher.

Revisit a faded family photograph
Restoration can create a cleaner-looking interpretation of an old print for a personal album or sharing. It cannot establish what a missing face, date or damaged detail originally looked like, so keep an untouched scan as your archival copy.
Prepare a scan with usable detail
Scan the whole print in even light and crop the scanner bed or frame. Avoid glare and aggressive sharpening. If you have several copies, start with the one with the most visible facial detail.
For an undamaged photo that mainly looks soft, image enhancement is a more direct starting point.
Work from the best surviving copy

Compare faces and important marks with the original before downloading.
Separate appearance from historical accuracy
Look closely at eyes, jewelry, clothing and written dates. Smooth patches may conceal invented detail. Keep both files and label an edited version when sharing it as family history. A result that looks newer is not necessarily more faithful.
Can it recover a missing face exactly?
No. Missing information may be invented. Use the original as the source of truth and avoid treating reconstructed details as evidence.
